Music

The Los Angeles Music Festival® music channel is freeform radio: jazz, funk, blues, Latin, rock, alternative, world, classical, avant garde and more. It’s a place of musical discovery anchored by a sampling of the best music ever recorded, hit music and well known artists. The target audience is music fans who are open to hearing music that has not been recommended by an algorithm based on prior listening. We hook many listeners with music they love and then introduce them to new sounds they might not otherwise hear. The musical palette of Los Angeles Music Festival® is outlined in the music channel program schedule and visible on the real time playlist.

Of course playing music on the radio is not the same thing as booking talent for a music festival. If only! The founder advocates for using a contractor for festival booking. Booking is one of several elements that could be contracted out via a competitive request for proposals issued by the controlling entity.

One concept is to have festival stages that are aligned with music channel programs, genres or local hosts such as a radio station, music company or superstar artist. For example, Los Angeles Music Festival® at the Music Center could have new and recent releases artists on the Jerry Moss Plaza stage, Jazzmasters and/or classical at the Ahmanson Theatre and avant garde at the REDCAT. Organizers could also consider extending the festival grounds beyond the Music Center campus to include all or part of Grand Park for food, art and other concessions, additional stage(s), amenities and/or attractions. The concept of stages aligned with music channel programs, genres or local hosts extends to other prospective venues as well so long as the venues reflect the best of the Los Angeles brand. There are many possibilities for presenting a distinctive, productive and memorable Los Angeles Music Festival® as circumstances provide, allow and/or dictate.
