Update Los Angeles Music Festival®

I'm Floyd E. Vasquez Jr., evangelist for Los Angeles Music Festival®. Have been on a short break from daily website and social media posting to produce video content for Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque and other work to keep the lights on around here. This website and a confidential business plan tell the Los Angeles Music Festival® story.

LA's namesake music festival has a powerful reason for being and pivotal competitive advantages.

Anyone with market data and a calculator can see the potential for a destination music festival in LA. On its own southern CA is among the world's top markets and every year 32 million people travel on average over 900 miles and spend $19.2 billion to attend at least one music festival. It's big business and the kingpins are based in Los Angeles. Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino took home $70.6 million last year and AEG/Goldenvoice/Coachella owner Phillip Anshutz has amassed "one of the greatest fortunes in the history of the west."  Good for them. And better yet for artists receiving rarified paydays for mega buck festival performances.

Los Angeles Music Festival® has cachet but is a different thing. Competitive advantages include 1) the LA brand and assets, 2) the registered trademark, 3) a philanthropic, public purpose and 4) a unique and disruptive approach. Music, of course, underpins it all. Los Angeles Music Festival® music has already found an enthusiastic international audience with many musicians, tastemakers and travel and tourism influencers among them. On Twitter @LAMusicFestival has grown by leaps and bounds this year surpassing the reach of LA institutions including @TheBroadStage and @NightOnBroadway. At this rate it won't be long before @LAMusicFestival surpasses the reach of the LA Department of Cultural Affairs; and Grand Performances a leading nonprofit institution that has been presenting free concerts in downtown LA for 30 years.

I recently formed Los Angeles Music & Arts Festival, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation organized to promote, perpetuate and encourage music, arts and culture through festivals and other cultural, educational, civic and economic activities. A prominent business leader and nonprofit adviser has joined our board and is helping with outreach to philanthropists. We need your help. In the coming weeks we will be reaching out to individuals and groups we think may be a good fit join our board or advisory committee. If this sounds like you, please be in touch. I've also just commissioned the first original LAMF artwork that will be printed on posters and t-shirts that we'll offer for sale.

Soon the music channel will reopen for collaborators, artists and influencers and social media activities will resume. The music network was recently made private following years of public access during which royalties were paid via Streamlicensing.com and more recently Live365.com.  For the moment, listening access must be limited to associates. Royalty payments will resume and the channel will be made public again at first opportunity.

Heartfelt thanks to our many friends and fans in cyberspace. We have strong support from influencers in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain and Brazil. Your encouragement makes all the difference. As those who support this network know, Los Angeles Music Festival® is not about me. It's about music and about us, music makers, music promoters and fans. It's also about arts education, inclusivity, culture and performing arts in Los Angeles.
